Backpacking at Hetch Hetchy Resevoir in Yosemite Day 1

I got the opportunity to finally experience Yosemite National Park through an event held by San Jose State University. It was my first time here and my first time ever backpacking. I’ll have to admit, carrying so much weight on my back was incredibly tiring. However, I wasn’t the only one! I was debating on whether or not I should take my DSLR kit or my compact camera kit. I decided on bringing the latter since my backpack was already very heavy.

Our journey started out with a near 6 mile hike, but we all started to get separated at about halfway there. Eventually, we all met up at an area where we had planned to camp out before the sun went down. There was actually a water source nearby camp and it was so amazing to able to drink from it. Water never tasted so delicious! Although it was a tiring hike, the view was well worth it. At the end of the day, the time getting to know each other and having a meal together around a campfire was priceless and memorable.
