The Baths of the Sky

Today was a day I had looked forward to all week. I’ve known about the Sutro Baths Ruins for a few years, but somehow I was spontaneous enough to want to drive out with a few friends. It was a race against time getting here, but I’m so glad we made it in time for sundown because we were in for a real treat.

What threw me off guard was that this place was jam packed when we arrived. My initial expectation of this place based on the photos and descriptions was that this place was secluded and abandoned. In any case, this place was so beautiful, I would love to come here again. I absolutely love reflections, and it’s combination with an amazing after-glow sky was breathtaking. It’s almost as if my soul was taking a bath in the reflection of the skies.

Downtown San Jose on a Rainy Day

On my first week of Winter Break, I didn’t really know what much else I could do. It’s been so cold that I don’t want to do anything that involved going outside other than work. This day was different, though. I just decided to go out and shoot. I brought my Canon Canonet QL17 with me as well as my S110. I mainly shot with my film camera, but I took some snaps with my point and shoot.

Sun Rise and Early Morning Skies

At 4am, my friends and I woke up to go on our planned hike up Mission Peak over in Fremont. To be honest, I haven’t done this in nearly a year. I thought I knew what I was in store for, considering all I had on my mind was the sun rise. It was exhausting, yet quite exciting.

It took us about an hour and 20min to get up the hill. Luckily for us, we made it to the top before the sun came up, which ended up coming up around 6am. After relaxing for a bit, we made our way back down because we were all hungry and  had our own things to do during the day. It’s been a while since I got to see the different colors of the morning sky. I’ll make sure I find the time to have another morning like this, but maybe not so intense. 🙂
