My “Backyard”

Today was just one of those days where I wanted to stretch out, breathe, and relax. It’s nice knowing a place like this is so close and accessible to home.

Making Time

_G5A0805I haven’t made any time to shoot lately. Since I was coming home from San Francisco Airport, I figured I might as well take some photographs. It was actually a great chance to do so since I haven’t even seen the new section of the Bay Bridge.

The California Cruise

I remember it was a Wednesday night, and I was bored out of my mind. I had this urge to really go out, do something, and be somewhere. I wanted to see California. Thursday night came, and I found myself packing my things. I looked at maps deciding where I wanted to go and what I wanted to see. I had decided on traveling north of San Francisco on Pacific Coast Highway (Highway 1). I didn’t really know where to stop and I knew I could drive on for days, but I only had 2 days off work. I planned to stop at Salt Point State Park which is north of Jenner.

I left on Friday at noon, but the one mistake that I made and didn’t realize was that it was Labor day weekend. People were getting out and going camping. Realizing this, I decided to stop short at Stillwater Cove Regional park and ended up getting the last lot at the campsite. Once I made camp, I went out for a hike and drove around to look for some views. Here are the highlights of my trip:

This little adventure along the north coast of California was what I needed. There’s so much out there to be discovered and seen. I’ve come across some of the most amazing and inspirational people along the way. I will never forget this journey and what it’s taught me. Perhaps one day, I’ll compile my photos of my future road trips along highway 1 into a book. There’s so much more to see out there.

A Prologue to Summer

_DSF0349 I drove to San Francisco from San Jose to pick up a new lens for my Fujifilm X-Pro 1 this evening. I thought it’d be nice to drop by a friends house since it’s been too long since we hung out. We spontaneously decided to drive up to Twin Peaks. The only problem is that neither of us knew how to get there. What should have only taken us about 15 minutes took us an hour! We finally found the spot. It was incredibly cold as expected, but the sight was so amazing. I know spots like this are over-shot and typical, but I’ve never seen a view like this. I had a really good time, especially watching racoons fight each other just a few feet in front of me._DSF0354 _DSF0355 _DSF0356I love this spot already, and I can’t wait to share this with someone special. Not only that, but I’m really loving my new lens. 🙂

Chocolate First

_G5A6803 What better way to start a Sunday morning than with chocolate? With the Chocolate Salon starting up at 10a.m. in San Francisco, people lined up to have their sweet tooth satisfied. A group of friends and I arrived early, highly anticipating the free chocolate. After all, we did pay a $20 entrance fee!tich1_G5A6821 _G5A6822 _G5A6824 tich3_G5A6830 tich2

_G5A6850 After we filled out stomachs with chocolate (falling into a chocolate-coma!), we decided to get some real food! We all decided on Mediterranean food for lunch around town. This tiny little restaurant, Pera, is absolutely wonderful. It’s a nice fancy place that’s great for a brunch or a romantic dinner. The food was just as great as it looked! 😀_G5A6890

_G5A6876 _G5A6881 _G5A6885 _G5A6887 I only had the 100mm f/2.8L IS macro lens on. It was a great chance to test it out considering I was shooting food in nice natural lighting. I want one now!

Waking Up On the Other Side

_G5A4446It’s just another early Saturday morning with my friend. I’ve never been on this beach before so I was pretty excited. It was around 6.a.m. and the beach was deserted. We were hoping for a really nice sunrise since we always catch a good sunrise from the northern side of the Golden Gate Bridge. Nevertheless, it was a very relaxing morning. I hope to explore more of this area soon.

The Baths of the Sky

Today was a day I had looked forward to all week. I’ve known about the Sutro Baths Ruins for a few years, but somehow I was spontaneous enough to want to drive out with a few friends. It was a race against time getting here, but I’m so glad we made it in time for sundown because we were in for a real treat.

What threw me off guard was that this place was jam packed when we arrived. My initial expectation of this place based on the photos and descriptions was that this place was secluded and abandoned. In any case, this place was so beautiful, I would love to come here again. I absolutely love reflections, and it’s combination with an amazing after-glow sky was breathtaking. It’s almost as if my soul was taking a bath in the reflection of the skies.
